!! Minimal Delays Due to Weather !!
April 28, 2026
Since last Thu, April 23, the inclement weather conditions have unfortunately delayed construction progress. Our crews are running round the clock to minimize these delays as much as possible. Despite these fast-paced efforts, two lanes of traffic in each direction will not return until the end of day tomorrow. The great news is that the western half of the structure is in-place! The bad news is temperatures are running unseasonably cool. Pavement can't be set in place until temperatures reach a certain threshold, so look for paving crews to begin applying pavement to the west half of the road by mid-day Wednesday, and look for two lanes of traffic to return by late that same evening. Keep it slow and be cautious passing our crews as you travel through the construction zone; lane space will be relatively tight with the center turn lane consumed by equipment. We also advise leaving 20 minutes early if you are coming into Cache Valley from the South for USU events.
Next Week | Back to Single Lane in Each Direction
Starting Mon, May 4, traffic will be shifted to the west side of the road with one lane in each direction returning (NORTHBOUND CLOSURE - See Image Below). During this time the east side of the pedestrian culvert will be installed. 640 south will be closed, however, 700 south will remain open to right turn traffic. Traffic congestion could be moderate to heavy during peak times. UDOT encourages drivers practice zipper merging to reduce overall congestion by up to 40%.
