HOW ARE WE DOING AS THE REGION’S METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION?
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) want to hear what you think about how well the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) plans for transportation and engages the public.
Over the past four years we have reached thousands of people to share information and get feedback on dozens of projects, plans and other work to plan the future of transportation in our region.
Now, we want to hear from you about our planning process and engagement efforts. Check out some background information and then let us know what you think! Comments are welcome at a hybrid public meeting on Wednesday, May 1 at 6:30 p.m. and online through Tuesday, May 7.

BRTB SEEKS NEW MEMBERS FOR TRANSPORTATION CORE
The Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) is on the lookout for new volunteers to be part of something special: the Transportation CORE (Community Outreach and Regional Engagement).
What's the Transportation CORE, you ask? Well, it's a virtual panel where folks from all around the region come together online to share their thoughts on transportation, planning, and public engagement. Key goals include:
- Giving you a voice in how BRTB tackles project planning, prioritizing initiatives, and getting the public involved.
- Making sure everyone - from rural, suburban, and urban communities - are included and a diversity of perspectives are included.
- Keeping our finger on the pulse of what's happening in different communities and bringing up new ideas and issues.
We are seeking neighborhood residents and business owners, transportation and equity advocates, non-profit leaders, and representatives of the various interested parties and key stakeholders that are essential to include in the planning process. If this sounds like a good fit, please apply today! Applications are welcome through April 30, 2024. Applications received after will be considered on a rolling basis.

BRTB SET TO VOTE ON NEXT YEARS TRANSPORTATION PLANNING BUDGET
Every year we come up with a list of work tasks we are going to tackle and what our planning priorities are. Think of it as a roadmap for transportation planning. In it you’ll find a list of where we plan to put money and resources for studies, collecting data, reaching out to the public, and other projects related to planning and improving transportation.
Nearly twenty people shared comments on the proposed budget and responses to comments were posted on the project page. The next step is for the BRTB to vote on a resolution to approve the transportation planning budget. That is scheduled for Friday, April 19 at 9:30 a.m. Once approved, the budget would go into effect on July 1.

It's Work Zone Awareness Week in April and we want to remind drivers to drive cautiously in work zones and be mindful of workers on or around our roads.
