US-89 | Logan River Trail Undercrossing Project
!! Construction Underway !!
March 24, 2026
Our UDOT contractors have resumed work this week on the Logan River Trail Undercrossing Project! Due to the location, drivers should plan on significant traffic impacts for up to two months. The traffic patterns may shift frequently from week-to-week, but we aim to keep you updated of the changes well in advance.
What To Expect This Week
This early period of construction will build a new retaining wall on the West side of Main Street @ 600 South. Two-way traffic in both directions will be maintained, but the traffic will need be shifted to give room for equipment and crews. Turning restrictions at 640 S. The traffic configuration below demonstrates the extent of the barrels on the road and various turning restrictions. Plan for moderate delays during peak times.

Single-Lane Traffic as Early as Monday, March 30
The next several phases of construction will require travel lanes be reduced to single-lane in each direction for several weeks. It's during this time that the pedestrian culvert will be installed in one-half sections. (see traffic control configuration example below) West half first and East half second. Additional turning restrictions will be required at 640 & 700S. Traffic congestion could be moderate to heavy during peak times. UDOT encourages drivers to practice zipper merging to reduce overall congestion by up to 40%. Nighttime closures will be required to flip all the traffic control devices to the other side of the road. The timing for these events will be announced through newsletters, text messaging and social media updates provided by Logan City. (See construction schedule summary below)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) in partnership with Logan City will install a pedestrian culvert undercrossing trail at 600S, located adjacent to the US-89 (Main Street) Bridge in Logan City. This underpass addresses a critical gap in the trail network, allowing for safe and uninterrupted movement between trails near the Logan River Golf Course and those extending toward Logan Canyon. It will improve accessibility and safety by eliminating the need for trail users to cross Main Street.
