GTC Seeks Input on Draft Recommendations for Long Range Transportation Plan 2050

Understanding Today to Plan for Tomorrow

Thank you for participating in the Transportation Listening Sessions this past summer. Your feedback helped inform the next phase of the Genesee Transportation Council’s (GTC) Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) 2050, and we invite you to stay involved as the plan continues to take shape.

This phase of the LRTP 2050 builds directly on what we heard related to the five themes:

  • Health and Safety
  • Access and Mobility
  • System Management and Maintenance
  • Innovation and Resilience
  • Economic Development

We developed draft recommendations based on regional demographic and employment data, an assessment of the current transportation system, emerging issues and opportunities, and direct input from residents across the region.

For instance, we heard that reliable, accessible transportation is important for many seniors, people with disabilities, rural residents, and people without cars. The draft recommendations respond by prioritizing accessible streets and bus stops, enhanced on-demand service in rural communities, stronger connections, and safer, more direct walking and biking connections to transit.

We are now seeking public feedback on these draft recommendations. We encourage you to review the draft recommendations and share which ideas you feel are most important for the future of transportation in our region.
