Association & Organization Registry Update

It's time to renew! All Associations and Organizations currently on the City's Registry must renew their registration by May 1, 2026. 

Benefits of Remaining Registered   

• The City notifies registered groups of important projects happening in their area   
• Registered groups receive zoning and planning notifications from Development Services   

What to Know Right Now   

• Groups must renew their registration by May 1 every other year to remain on the registry   
• The City may remove groups from the registry if they do not renew their registration   
• Once removed, groups will not receive City notices about projects that may impact their area   
• Groups can re-register at any time   

Solid Waste Management Events

If you have hazardous household waste or bulky items, here's help with safe, proper disposal. Join the Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) at one of their disposal events this month.

Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off 

Date & Time: Saturday, February 7, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. 

Location: Bitters Bulky Waste Collection Center (1800 Wurzbach Pkwy, 78216) 

Date & Time: Saturday, February 14, 8am-12pm.  

Location: Rigsby Bulky Waste Collection Center (2755 Rigsby Ave., 78222) 

Accepted materials include paints, batteries, e-waste, cleaning supplies, chemicals, and light bulbs. Contents should be kept in their original container.  

Free Landfill Day 

Date: Saturday, February 14 

Locations: Republic Services Landfill (7000 IH 10 E, 78219), Waste Management Landfill (8611 Covel Road, 78252) 

Please cover your loads with a tarp. 

Accepted Materials:

• Appliances
• Bagged litter (only at landfills)
• Carpet
• Fencing material
• Furniture
• Mattresses
• Tires (limit 6 passenger car tires per household)
• Toilets
• Water heaters 

A recent CPS Energy bill showing payment of the Environmental Fee and picture ID are required for all events. 

Recycle Right Video Contest

The Recycle Right Video Contest invites San Antonio students to create a short video for a chance to win Spurs tickets! Create an inspiring video that helps educate others and promotes proper recycling practices in San Antonio.

Valentine's Day at Market Square

Celebrate friends, family and other loved ones at Historic Market Square!

Starting at 10 a.m., pick up a free rose and then explore the many artisan booths and food vendors. All will offer delicious Valentine treats and unique handcrafted items.  

Capture this sweet event in a photo with Valentine’s-themed characters from 12 - 2 p.m. To top off, there will be live music performances from 12 to 6 p.m.

Pre-K 4 SA Applications Open February 1

Mark your calendar! The public application for the Pre-K 4 SA 2026-2027 school year is opening on February 1st.  

When the enrollment period opens, you’ll be able to apply for your 3- and 4-year-old children. You’ll be asked to provide basic family and contact information, as well as your preferred Education Center. Applications are reviewed as they are submitted, and enrollment is processed on a rolling basis. 

Need help applying? Call the Pre-K 4 SA Enrollment Hotline at 210-206-7735. An Enrollment Specialist can guide you through the entire process. 

Renters' Rights Session

The Neighborhood and Housing Services Department (NHSD) is hosting an online renter rights and info session on February 18. It is available in English and Spanish. NHSD staff will be there to answer questions and refer you to other housing services. 

Tax Preparation Assistance Now Available

It's tax filing season and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programis available to help you. VITA offers San Antonio and Bexar County residents free tax preparation through April 15. Individuals and families who earned up to $65,000 last year are eligible to receive assistance.

RevitalizeSA Corridor Leadership Program

The City is partnering with Main Street America for the third year of the RevitalizeSA: Corridor Leadership Program (RevitalizeSA). This program focuses on revitalizing local business corridors. RevitalizeSA cultivates community leaders through a series of leadership and strategy courses. The program consists of 6 months of workshops and 3 months of project work.

Restored by Light is Back!

We’re lighting up Mission San José once again! Join us Friday, February 13, for a magical night celebrating the 10th anniversary of San Antonio’s World Heritage Site designation. 

Date & Time: Friday, February 13, 5 p.m.

Location: Mission San José (701 E Pyron Ave., 78214)

There will be live music, food trucks, kids activities, and a stunning light show on the Mission. And maybe a few surprises! Bring your lawn chairs or picnic blankets and experience this unforgettable evening under the stars. This event is free and open to all! The light show will start at sundown.
