Spicewood Springs Road Mobility Improvements Project Update
Completed/Ongoing Work:
- Our contractor is currently continuing construction in phase one of four.
- Phase one includes underground utility installation and rehabilitation, the addition of a detention pond, and large diameter utility work.
- Eastbound lanes of Spicewood Springs Road will experience partial roadway construction as we work on completing temporary roadway.
- Driveways on the southern end of Spicewood Springs Road are being reconstructed.
- Phase one of construction will continue over the next few months.
Upcoming Work:
- Construction along the north side of Spicewood Springs Road (phase two) is expected to begin this Fall 2024.
- Construction on our westbound lanes will include adding large diameter water and storm utility lines, the widening of the roadway from two to four lanes, and median and rain garden construction.
- Phase two of construction is expected to last approximately one year.

As construction continues on Spicewood Springs Road (Between Mesa and Loop 360), please expect to experience:
- Road and lane closures.
- Tree trimming in areas where branches are hanging low and interfering with equipment.
- Noise, vibration and dust during construction.
Reminders:
- The construction site is for authorized personnel only. Full Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) must be worn by anyone in the construction area.
- City of Austin permitted construction hours are:
- Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Saturday, 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., Note: work will be taking place every
Saturday this month.
- Note: Monday – Friday: People and trucks arrive around 6:30 a.m.
to start at 7 a.m. Some trades may work 12-hour days but
daylight hours only.
