Parks Highway Rehabilitation: Houston to Willow
Parks Highway Rehabilitation: Houston to Willow
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities’ Parks Highway: Houston to Willow project will rehabilitate select areas and resurface the Parks Highway between Milepost 57 and 72. Horizontal and vertical curves that do not meet current standards and have a history of crashes, will be reconstructed to current design standards. Drainage features will be improved and bridges will be evaluated for minor repairs. Bridges within the project corridor include the Little Susitna River Bridge at MP 57.1, the Alaska Railroad crossing bridge at MP 66.3, and the Willow Creek bridge at MP 71.4. At this point in design no bridges are anticipated to be fully reconstructed. The project will include moose crash mitigation measures that may include clearing, slope flattening, signs, or other measures. Other safety related and pedestrian improvements will include pathway repairs, clearing to improve driver sight distance, minor shoulder widening, new guardrail, striping, and upgrading signs.
