Minnesota Pavement Preservation: Tudor to 15th
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is proposing to resurface Minnesota Drive from Tudor Road to 15th Avenue. The purpose of this project is to mitigate damage and wear on the current road surface, reduce maintenance costs, and improve secondary roadway components such as guardrail, signing, and lighting. Improvements include upgrading Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) facilities to current standards.
The proposed work may:
- Rehabilitate failing and rutted pavement on Minnesota Drive
- Repair drainage structures such as culverts and storm drain systems, where necessary
- Restore damaged sidewalk, curb, and gutter, as needed
- Upgrade signs and striping
- Replace impaired guardrail, where needed
- Upgrade signals and lighting, as needed
- Utility adjustments, as needed
Current Work
Final Design is underway. DOT&PF is finalizing acquisition of temporary Right-of-Way interests and utility work agreements.
Schedule
Preliminary Design – Complete.
Final Design – Estimated completion by February, 2021
Construction
Construction for this project is anticipated to begin in 2021 pending funding availability and coordination with other construction projects.
