Infrastructure Report Card
Infrastructure Report Card
Our infrastructure may be the most important and least appreciated part of our everyday lives. We expect the roads, rail, ports, and airports to be maintained and to allow us to travel and ship freight to where we it is needed. Most of us don't worry about where our power or water comes from and where our waste is handled, yet without functioning infrastructure our lives as we know them would be disrupted.
The Alaska Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers developed a report card for Alaska's infrastructure in 2017. The report card is a comprehensive summary of published information about the conditionon, maintenance, and investment needs of our critical infrastructure and assessment of how well it meets Alaska's current and future needs.
This short video highlights the key findings and recommendations for us to ensure that our infrastructure can continue to serve our needs.
We are currently working on an update to the report card, expected to be released in May of 2021.
