Palmer-Fishhook Road Pavement Preservation: Milepost 7-17
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is planning to resurface the Palmer- Fishhook Road (Hatcher Pass Road) from the intersection of Wasilla-Fishhook Road (MP 7) through the intersection with Gold Chord Road (MP 17.3). The purpose of the project is to extend the service life of the roadway by removing ruts, cracks and potholes, and protecting the pavement structural section materials.
The project may also include, as necessary:
• Reconstruction or rehabilitation of the roadway structural section
• Guardrail replacements
• Drainage and ditching improvements
• Culvert replacements
• Pavement markings
• Removal of vegetation
Current Status
• The environmental document (Categorical Exclusion) has been approved.
• Geotechnical studies and culvert and guardrail assessments have been completed.
• The hydraulic study, field survey and preliminary engineering have been completed.
Funding
This project is being completed using a combination of state and federal funds.
Project Timeline
• Preliminary engineering and design completed in September 2020
• Final design through January 2021
• Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2021
