Social-Emotional/Mental Health/Safety
Discussion of Problem Statement: The district does not provide enough social and emotional support to students to support the whole child, particularly when transitioning into a new school. Our learning environments do not always promote positive mental health and psychological safety, particularly for marginalized student groups such as newly arrived students, students of color, non-binary students.
ACTE 15. Newly-arrived international students and families in AISD lack additional instructional, social, and emotional support to assist with transitions into their individual schools, their community, and the United States.***
SSR 2. - Marginalized students, their families and staff across AISD face barriers to learning environments that support their emotional resiliency, mental health, and psychological safety.
SSR 9. - AISD creates barriers to learning environments for Black students and staff that do not support their emotional resiliency, mental health, and psychological safety.
ACTE 9. All AISD PK & Kindergarten students lack access to the emotional support necessary to be successful in their transition into school.****
O7: Underserved students and families do not have access to mental and physical health services, which support well-being and building resilience to stressors.
SSR 10/O1. Underserved students and families across AISD are disproportionately impacted by a lack of resources to meet their basic needs.
