Tex-Al Road Connector
Tex-Al Road Connector
Project Scope
The purpose of this project is to connect and upgrade the west and east ends of Tex-Al Road between Palmer Fishhook Road and Wasilla Fishhook Road providing a new collector road corridor.
Benefits
The project:
- Improves area traffic circulation.
- Provides an alternate route to the two Fishhooks.
- Shortens the commuting time for the residents between the two Fishhooks traveling to Palmer and Wasilla.
- Provides a safe secondary access in the case of road closures on the northern portion of the two Fishhooks.
- Shortens emergency response times.
Currently there are no west-east connections that are constructed to collector road standards between the two Fishhooks north of Trunk Road.
Status
A reconnaissance effort is currently ongoing. With additional funding design, right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation, and construction can take place.
A portion of the right-of-way connection between west Tex-Al and east Tex-Al roads has been secured. A residential subdivision road has been constructed which provides a base embankment for the future collector road.
The project is part of the transportation bond package approved by voters in 2018 that provides for 50% of the funding. The borough’s Capital Project Department is actively seeking funds for the other 50% match. With additional funding design, right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation, and construction can take place.
Project Costs
The estimated budget for this project is $5.5M.
