Kenai Spur Rehabilitation Phase II & Advance Utility Relocation
Kenai Spur Rehabilitation Phase II & Advance Utility Relocation
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is developing a project to rehabilitate and widen the Kenai Spur Highway between Swires Road and Sports Lake Road. The existing highway will be widened from the 2-lane configuration to a 5-lane (2 lanes in each direction separated by a center two-way left-turn lane).
The project has been separated into two phases, Phase I is between Swires Road and Eagle Rock Drive, and Phase II is between Eagle Rock Drive and Sports Lake Road.
This project will relocate utilities in advance of the Phase II project between Eagle Rock Drive and Sports Lake Road, in order to expedite construction of the Reconstruction project. Phase I utility relocations and construction was completed in 2020.
