We love Kennesaw and its parks and events, but we worry greatly about all the new apartments and townhomes being built as traffic is already difficult.

The big increase in high density housing without anything done to handle the increase in traffic and congestion causes it to be miserable to live here. Crime has increased the past few years as well and it no longer feels nearly as safe.

Sadly we still have to leave Kennesaw for any decent restaurants or entertainment, unless we want pizza or a burger. Every other town around us has a much better downtown…Acworth, Canton, Woodstock, Marietta, etc. It’s pathetic how weak our city development efforts have been over the last 10 years while others have been busy revitalizing & improving. When things finally do start to happen, it’s low end housing that’s built. Not sure what the ultimate goal is here but I sure wish Kennesaw would take some lessons from its neighbors.

I love living downtown and all the future development kennesaw has planned. I wish there was more retail and art/weekend festivals.

I love living in Kennesaw for the past two years. But, if growth continues as it is, all city services will need to be able to keep up with the growth. Something will definitely need to be done to improve the traffic congestion that is rapidly becoming a big pain to deal with on a daily basis.

Benchmarking and Best Practices Are there best practices from other cities or municipalities you have seen that could inform Raleigh's efforts? If yes, please share them below.
There are a lot of mature trees along roadways that are being choked out by english ivy and kudzu. Is there a city program to clear invasive species from these wooded areas to preserve the mature trees?

Ensure that large, mature trees are not clear cut. The rules need to apply to all tracts, not just large tracts. The rules also need to be enforced. A prime example is the large project at the corner of Oberlin and Fairview, where acres of mature trees were all removed.

Trees along some streets are being sacrificed to construct seldom used bike lanes - example Sandy Forks and soon Six Forks. Replanting is essential.

I’ve seen when developers are required to plant trees after clearing they plant the cheapest, smallest, unhealthy trees and don’t maintain their health. They should be responsible for those trees for 5 years and if the trees die, they do it again.

I really like the bounty on Bradford Pears to encourage folks to remove them.
