With the addition of the multi-use path, sidewalk, and boardwalk over Carolina Pines Lake, how often do you think you will walk or ride your bike along the corridor?
This project includes traffic calming features along the corridor. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest please rate how well do you think the measures outlined in the presentation will help slow traffic speeds along the street.

Do you have any comments or concerns about the project design?
Sidewalks are the biggest need and desire. It is difficult (and at times dangerous) to walk our dogs. Long stretches of the corridor do not have much margin for walking, and traffic speeds by frequently. We look forward to having sidewalks and slower traffic. It will make things much more enjoyable!
Disappointed that the Lake Wheeler Road roundabout has been scrapped. Otherwise, looks pretty good. Would love to better understand what impacts to expect for homeowners who have property impacted by permanent easements and temporary construction easements---what will the restrictions be in permanent easement areas? Will trees/flowerbeds in the temporary construction easement space be damaged?
Yes. I am worried about the storm water controls being planned. I watched the video but didn't see detailed information about what will be done. For example, there is currently not a curb or drain near the intersection of Carolina Pines and Batt street. There is a huge wall of water that travels down that hill and onto the Wellington Woods Condo property. There is damage currently from the water flow, which should be remedied as part of this large design project. Can you explain what is being done to address this problem?
The sidewalks and multi-use paths will be more important than traffic calming measures, but both will make this area safer for pedestrians. I'm happy to see there is a plan for this. I've always been cautious on Carolina Pines at night because pedestrians are forced to walk on the edge of the road, or trudge through ditches and roadside muck.
I also want to see trashcans along the sidewalks and multi-use paths. This maybe a good opportunity to use those giant underground trash receptacles that didn't work out for downtown. The litter problem near Carolina Pines and South Saunders is out of control. A "swat-a-litter bug" surveillance camera (on a light post or 2) could help curb some of this. You could fine the drivers who toss their fast food containers out the window, or drop illegally dumped items (old furniture and trash) out in the big field.
