Peabody and Salem are collaborating with government and non-profit partners to adapt to climate change and build out the region's network of multiuse paths and greenways.
With funding from the Commonwealth's Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) program, the Cities of Peabody and Salem are jointly undertaking a study to identify solutions to increasing flooding and erosion within the segment of the North River between Grove Street and Howley Street. The Cities recently collaborated with the Solomon Foundation to select a preferred alignment for a multiuse path through this corridor to connect Peabody and Salem's expanding networks. Other infrastructure in the corridor includes an active freight rail line and a South Essex Sewerage District trunk pipe.
This project will include multiple opportunities for the public to learn more about the impact of climate change in the region and to provide input on climate adaptation strategies. Please check back on this webpage for updates, events, and project documents.
