Resilient Together: The Point
Resilient Together: The Point
WHAT IS RESILIENT TOGETHER AND RESILIENT TOGETHER: THE POINT?
The City of Salem’s Sustainability and Resiliency Department is responsible for supervising sustainability, energy, and
resilience initiatives across the municipal government and in collaboration with the residents of Salem. This includes
managing programs and projects, as well as collaborating with other Departments and local organizations. From 2022
through June 2026, we’ve supported a variety of activities through Resilient Together: The Point (El Punto), a
neighborhood-focused project that was an extension of the broader Resilient Together Climate Action and Resilience Plan
led by the Cities of Salem and Beverly, which concluded in June 2021.
Resilient Together: The Point (El Punto) focused on El Punto, a vibrant and culturally rich neighborhood in Salem that was
identified as a priority area due to its vulnerability to climate-related impacts and socioeconomic challenges. Throughout the
project, the City worked alongside residents and community organizations to identify climate resilience priorities, strengthen
local leadership, and build community capacity to participate in public decision-making processes.
As part of this effort, two community-based working groups were established: the Participatory Action Research (PAR)
Community Researchers and the Climate Resilience Leadership Council (CRLC). Over the course of the project, these
groups led and contributed to numerous initiatives aimed at advancing climate resilience, community engagement, and
neighborhood-driven planning.
While the grant-funded project concluded in June 2026 project materials, reports, presentations, photographs, and other
resources remain available for public viewing through the Resilient Together Digital Archive at: https://resilient.omeka.net/.
