What is an ADA Transition Plan?

As required by Title II guidelines for state and local governments in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), King County Parks is required to prepare an ADA Transition Plan. This plan will summarize how Parks, as a public agency, intends to address existing barriers to accessibility, detail any changes that will be undertaken to achieve program and service access, and specify a time frame for their completion.

As a component of this process, King County Parks is conducting this survey that will inform community members about the ADA Transition Plan and gather input to help understand the priorities and recommendations people have for the ADA Transition Plan.

Where are King County Parks?

In short, they are everywhere! From Cottage Lake Park in Woodinville, to Marymoor Regional Park in Redmond, to the Issaquah Alps of Cougar Mountain, Island Center Forest on Vashon, Steve Cox Memorial Park in White Center, to Five Mile Lake Park in Auburn, King County Parks maintains and operates more than 205 Parks, 175 miles of regional trails, and 215 miles of backcountry trails.

How can you be involved?

We want to hear from people with disabilities and people who are family, friends, and caregivers for people with disabilities! You can share your experiences and ideas for how to improve access by taking this community survey. Parks will use the information you share with us to improve and prioritize the steps we’ll take in the coming years to make our system more accessible for all people.
