Project Overview
The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to extend Beryl Road to Royal Street and close the existing Beryl Road at-grade crossing in Raleigh, Wake County. The purpose of the project is to improve vehicular safety and rail transportation efficiency and reliability throughout the project area.
The proposed project would:
- Close the existing railroad crossing on Beryl Road, to divert vehicular traffic instead to the bridged crossing on Royal Street
- Connect Beryl Road to Royal Street for all railroad crossings by constructing approximately 500 ft of new roadway
- Include a 12-foot multi-use path along the newly constructed roadway
