Background
The purpose of this study is to identify project recommendations for the intersection of Route 19 and Alternate Route 58 in Russell County. Based on traffic data collected during a five-year period (2020-2024), there is a pattern of rear-end collisions at this intersection, which is the only traffic signal for approximately eight miles in either direction of Route 19. There are also patterns of nighttime collisions and collisions associated with merging and lane changing on southbound Route 19.
This Phase 2 survey is intended to obtain public input on the alternatives under consideration to address the issues that were identified by the study team.
