Traffic & Parking Commission Meeting: February 8, 2023 at 6:30pm via Zoom
In response to feedback and safety concerns about speeding on Broad Street, the City of Salem Traffic & Parking Department has worked with a consultant to develop an interim roadway striping plan in an effort to reduce lane widths, reduce vehicle speeds, and enhance pedestrian visibility to drivers. The Traffic & Parking Commission will be reviewing the plan on Wednesday, February 8th at 6:30pm via Zoom. Residents are welcome to give feedback during this meeting.
A longer-term vision for Broad Street will continue to be developed as this would require much more consideration for existing drainage structures, existing trees, lighting, pedestrian ramp and sidewalk construction, as well as potential bicycle accommodations, etc. This striping plan would serve as an interim measure while this long-term effort progresses.
