Mecklenburg County is working to expand available skate parks throughout the County! Skate parks were identified as a priority amenity in Meck Playbook for investment in based on community demand and limited existing sites throughout the Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation system. See below for park sites that will provide skate amenities through active Capital Investment and Reinvestment. 

May 21, 2026 update:

• Grayson Park: The Grayson Skate Park is complete and open for use!
• Eastland Park: Eastland Park is under construction and Artisan will building some skate elements along the loop trail. This project should be complete in Spring 2027. 
• Renaissance Park: The Renaissance Park Skate Park expansion starting opened to the public on May 15, 2026.
• Shuffletown Park: The proposed skate park design has been posted. 
• Kilborne Park: We just completed survey and are starting design development on improvements to Kilborne Park that will help support the DIY skate park. Artisan will also be constructing some skate elements in mid 2026.
• Bryant Park: Check on the project page to find out information about surveys. This project is in early design with a goal of starting construction in 2027. 
• Nevin Park: This project is in early design, with a goal of starting engagement early in 2026. 
• Idlewild Road Park: This project is in early design, with a goal of starting engagement early in 2026.
