- Brice/Cruz: Cruz continues working on ATV's, at least 4 or 5 are not running, and others have some issues. Snow removal in a few places remains. The fuel farm is running "normally" again. Brice is assisting as needed with the water plant and washateria.
1/2/26
- Brice/Cruz: Brice assisting with water plant and washateria work. Cruz continues snow removal and debris removal. Some aircraft loads this afternoon. Quite a few ATVs are having problems, so they are tenting and heating to work on them. Also working on updated lumber quantities as well.
1/1/26
- Brice/Cruz: This morning crews continued with snow drift cleanup, then shifted to getting debris piles organized. Snow and winds started this afternoon, making work slow. Brice assisting with work at the village water plant and waterline work to the washateria.
12/30/25
- Cruz/Brice – snow removal efforts continue. Cruz removing snow from boardwalk and thoroughfare areas. Making good progress, though still fighting equipment freeze up issues. Met with ANTHC at the village water treatment plant this afternoon. Talked with Corbyn Jahn with ANTHC about the condition of the water plant and the plan for the fresh water line from the lagoon. The water treatment plant is getting things ironed out and testing is scheduled to be done today as well. ANTHC wants to start discussing options to get the water line replaced that is displaced out into the adjacent swamp and lake.
12/29/25
- Cruz/Brice - Power is restored to most of the village; the water plant is operating, with water restored to the clinic and washateria, though there is a frozen section of line to the washateria. The school has fuel for its boilers and backup generator. The 25kw transformer that blew is currently being sourced for replacement by Brice. The backup generator for the village is working, but not able to power the system; further troubleshooting is required. ANTHC is going to be on site for water plant inspection and training tomorrow. The crews are busy today digging out, with 10 to 12 ft high drifts in places.
12/28/25
Daily Activities
- House #K31 – Delivered and staged all cribbing at this location in preparation for future jacking operations.
- House #K35 – Completed foundation work and structural bracing. Performed a thorough site cleanup, removing all trash and debris. Electrical service to the house is not yet connected.
- Experiencing extreme weather with wind chills between -50°F and -60°F, resulting in near-zero visibility.
- Power outage required evacuation to the school, which had minimal fuel reserves.
- Team assisted in draining water from the water plant to prevent pipe bursts.
- Supported operations at the power plant; currently operating on a single generator for the entire town. A new generator is on-site but lacks necessary parts for installation.
Total of five team members are currently on-site.
12/27/25
- Cruz / Brice / DBH – Spoke with Cruz and Brice about their needs in Kipnuk and Kwigillingok this morning. Both didn't have any immediate needs for materials, equipment, supplies, etc. Cruz said they were going to take a crew out around 7:30 am to try and isolate some of the runs to see if they could get the generators up and working.
- Call from Cruz at 2:45 pm informed me that the power was back on in the village. There was a blown transformer that they were able to isolate and get power to about half the village. The GCI tower was down most of the day but is now up and running again. As of that time, visibility was getting worse, and wind speeds still exceed 50 mph. There are large drifts over 7ft tall in some places, and it will take 3 to 4 days to get things dug out and plowed.
- R66 was able to make it to Kwigillingok with the interior full of very needed Brice and Cruz mechanical supplies / Napa order earlier today. Asked if any Contractor staff needed out of Kipnuk or Kwigillingok, but no one took the offer.
12/26/25
- Cruz / Brice / DBH – Snow and high winds are creating snow drifts throughout the region. Crews are mostly stuck indoors until the snow stops. Visibility is less than 50 ft, and travel outdoors is dangerous. The village generators have all gone out due to power spikes caused by wind. Two backups have been put into service, with one failing. A new backup is being installed and started up right now, but the current concern is the amount of fuel available to those generators. Crews are working together to keep things going.
Daily Activities
