Rt. 3 and I-95 Northbound Off-Ramp Improvements
Rt. 3 and I-95 Northbound Off-Ramp Improvements
Project Overview
This project would accomplish the following at various locations in the City of Fredericksburg:
- Modify the off-ramp from Interstate 95 northbound to Route 3 eastbound at exit 130 in Fredericksburg. The I-95 northbound off-ramp at exit 130 to Route 3 eastbound would be expanded to have three right turn lanes at the intersection with Route 3. A new traffic signal would control Route 3 eastbound and off-ramp traffic. Off-ramp traffic would turn right onto Route 3 eastbound on a green signal when Route 3 eastbound traffic is stopped.
- Build a new Park and Ride commuter lot with a minimum of 15 parking spaces on Rowe Street near the Lawrence A. Davies Transit Center.
- Make access management changes on Route 3 between Gateway Boulevard and Huntington Hills Lane
- Change the ramps from Route 3 eastbound to Route 1 northbound and Route 3 westbound to Route 1 southbound to be controlled by stop signs instead of yield signs
- Extend the median on William Street separating northbound and southbound traffic past the intersection with Olde William Street
- Extend the existing left turn lane from northbound Lafayette Boulevard to Route 3 westbound
- Provide two through travel lanes on northbound Lafayette Boulevard at the Route 3 intersection
- Extend the existing Route 3 westbound left turn lanes onto Lafayette Boulevard
- Provide a median barrier between the Virginia Central Railway Trail and the Lafayette Boulevard travel lanes near Hazel Run
- Adds signs and crosswalk striping on Dixon Street at the Route 3 interchange
