FCDOT is proposing the following changes within the Braddock and Springfield Districts as part of the 2024 Paving and Restriping Program:
- Bike lanes on Heming Avenue between Heming Place and Braddock Road
- Crosswalk on Heming Avenue and Hogarth Street
- Crosswalks on Heming Avenue and Elgar Street
- Crosswalk on Heming Avenue and Axton Street
- Crosswalk on Center Road and Garden Road (Springfield District)

1. Braddock District: Over the years, residents have expressed concerns about speeding traffic on Heming Avenue. One contributing factor to that problem is Heming Avenue's wide travel lanes. FCDOT proposes to narrow the travel lanes by adding bike lanes between Braddock Road and Heming Place per the Countywide Bicycle Master Plan. Unfortunately, Heming Avenue is not wide enough to add bike lanes without repurposing street parking. FCDOT completed a street parking study and found that most street parking was underused for most blocks. Please rank the following options in order of preference.
2. Braddock District: Heming Avenue & Hogarth Street Proposed Crosswalk.
To ensure that parked vehicles do not obstruct a driver's view of a person using the crosswalk per VDOT's requirement, FCDOT proposes to restrict street parking in yellow. Six spaces on southbound side of street and two spaces on northbound side of the street would be removed.

To ensure that parked vehicles do not obstruct a driver's view of a person using the crosswalk per VDOT's requirement, FCDOT proposes to restrict street parking in yellow. Five spaces on southbound side of street and six spaces on northbound side of the street would be removed.

4. Braddock District: Heming Avenue & Axton Street Proposed Crosswalk.
To ensure that parked vehicles do not obstruct a driver's view of a person using the crosswalk per VDOT's requirement, FCDOT proposes to restrict street parking in yellow. Ten spaces on southbound side of street and five spaces on northbound side of the street would be removed.

Springfield District: Center Road & Garden Road Proposed Crosswalk.
To ensure that parked vehicles do not obstruct a driver's view of a person using the crosswalk per VDOT's requirement, FCDOT proposes to restrict street parking in yellow. Seven spaces on the eastbound side of street and two spaces on westbound side of the street would be removed.
