Project Overview
The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to improve a 1.19-mile section of East Main Street (S.R.1605) in Yadkinville, Yadkin County
The project corridor extends along East Main Street from U.S. 601 to Unifi Industrial Drive (S.R.1765) and includes downtown commercial properties near U.S. 601 as wekk as residential and industrial properties to the east of the project corridor.
The proposed project is intended to increase mobility and improve safety by modernizing the roadway. The project will improve the regional transportation network efficiency and upgrade pedestrian facilities on East Main Street
The project will include:
a two-lane (one lane in each direction) typical section between U.S. 601 and S. Van Buren Street
a three-lane (one lane in each direction with center turn lane) typical section with 11-foot wide lanes between S. Van Buren Street and Hawthorne Drive
a three-lane (one lane in each direction with center turn lane) typical section with 12-foot wide lanes between Hawthrone Drive and Unifi Industrial Drive
Sidewalks will be included on both sides of the roadway throughout the project corridor
The downtown portion of the project will not change the existing conditions. On-street parking will still be provided on both sides.
