Route 11 Improvements (Bristol)
Route 11 Improvements (Bristol)
Overview
The primary purpose of this project is to improve traffic flow and safety along Route 11 (Lee Highway) in the City of Bristol between the intersections of Alexis Drive and Old Airport Road. The project includes widening Route 11 to two lanes in each direction, adding turn lanes at four signalized intersections and adding a raised median between the north and southbound lanes to improve traffic flow and enhance safety. The plans also include improvements at the four signalized intersections and construction of a new sidewalk, crosswalks and pedestrian signals.
The project is anticipated to begin the right-of-way phase to acquire any needed easements and/or utility relocations in August 2026. Construction is anticipated to start in September 2026. The estimated completion date is May 2029.
The project cost is approximately $38.1 million, with funding coming from both federal and state sources.
This project is moving forward as a design-build project. The design-build team will be responsible for finishing the design and constructing the project.
