STARS Franconia Rd. and Commerce St. Corridor Study Alternatives
This STARS (Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions) study assesses modifications to the intersections of Franconia Rd & Commerce St/Loisdale Rd, Franconia Rd/Old Keene Mill Rd & Backlick Rd, and the Commerce St corridor from Franconia Rd to Amherst Ave. The study objectives are to mitigate safety issues, improve multimodal and active transportation modes of travel, and alleviate congestion.
The first round of public involvement was conducted in June 2023. Respondents prioritized reductions in traffic congestion, corridor and intersection safety, and improvements to pavement marking and signage.

Intersection Level of Service (LOS) is referred to throughout this survey. LOS is a letter designation to qualitatively categorize the average delay for a vehicle at the intersection. LOS is defined in the table below.
