Background

As the city of Hampton's prime shopping district, Coliseum Drive and Mercury Boulevard have long been sources of congestion and pedestrian conflicts.  The purpose of this study is to identify project recommendations for the Coliseum Drive and Mercury Boulevard corridor between Hampton Roads Center Parkway and Armistead Avenue in the city of Hampton. This study will focus on improving roadway and pedestrian safety, mitigating congestion, multimodal accessibility/connectivity (bicycle, pedestrian and transit), and Transportation Demand Management (TDM) needs. The project recommendations that come from this study will be developed into funding applications for VDOT's SMART SCALE program and other transportation funding programs.

This Phase 2 survey is intended to obtain public input on the alternatives under consideration to address the issues that were identified by the study team.
