2nd Street Intersection Realignment (Richlands)
2nd Street Intersection Realignment (Richlands)
Benefits
The primary purpose of this project is to improve safety and traffic flow at the intersection of 2nd Street and Front Street near Kent’s Ridge Road in Richlands. The project includes altering the eastern intersection of Business Route 460 (Front Street) and 2nd Street and modifying the raised median/island at the intersection of 2nd Street and Front Street. The project will also add a raised concrete median on Front Street near Kent's Ridge Road that will separate merging traffic from through traffic on Front Street.
During construction, motorists should be alert to periodic delays. Following the public meeting, the project design will be finalized.
The project is anticipated to move to the right-of-way phase for any needed easements and/or utility relocations in June 2025. Construction is anticipated to begin January 2027.
The project cost is approximately $1.84 million, with most of the funding coming from the federal government. This section of Front Street carries approximately 4,600 vehicles per day. This section of 2nd Street carries approximately 5,700 vehicles per day.
