12/3/2025
Daily Activities
- House N-02: Put up interior finish plywood, finished installing the vapor barrier, framed the bathroom partition, and repaired sections of rotten plywood on the floor.
- Efforts continue to keep the runway access road, ramp, and runway open throughout the day to ensure continued access and operations.
- HRC will be inspecting/assessing sewer line from school to sewage lagoon per LKSD request.
- A total of nine team members are currently on-site.
12/2/2025
Daily Activities
- There was an active shooter type situation involving someone traveling from Toksook Bay to Nightmute last night, suspect was holed up in a house in Nightmute. Nightmute was on lockdown throughout the incident inhibiting work.
- House N-01: Finished flooring.
- House N-02: Prepped walls for insulation and vapor barrier. Installed insulation and plywood underneath the house.
- House N-03: Ran frost fighter all day to dry the floor. Wrapped the bottom of the house with reinforced Vis queen.
- A total of 7 team members are currently on-site.
11/29/2025
Daily Activities
- House N-01: Completed underfloor insulation, installed R-Tech foam board, began plywood backing installation, and performed interior prep including priming, wall prep, floor cleaning, and material consolidation.
- Transported garbage and debris to the new dump site.
- Unloaded materials from the DC-3 aircraft.
- A total of 10 team members are currently on-site.
11/21/2025
Daily Activities
- House N-01 - Utilized frost fighter heat inside the house and stapled reinforced poly around any openings.
- House N-03 - Drying the inside of the house, pulling up wet flooring, and preparing for framing.
- House N-10 - Removed flooring, foam, and plywood throughout the house. Finished cutting the interior walls, removed all interior and floor insulation, and cleared out all debris.
- Worked on grading the airstrip.
- A total of 11 employees working on-site: HRC - 4, Local - 7.
11/15/2025
Daily Activities
- Interior renovation prep began for House N-01: Materials were moved inside and cribbing and gravel work continued throughout the day. The house is approximately 75% dry with an air heater in use. Coordination with AVAC is underway for power restoration on the lower boardwalk.
- Interior renovation is underway for House N-02.
- Hauling cribbing, fuel, and gravel to House N-01 and House N-02.
- For House N-10, removing the plywood and insulation under the house. The galvanized nails made it challenging to remove.
- A total of 3 HRC team members are currently on-site. Local Workers: 7.
11/11/2025
Completed Work:
- Foundation work has been completed, including repairs to several beams.
- One house was lifted an additional 1 foot; debris was cleared from underneath, and the water level beneath it is approximately 2 feet deep.
- A meeting was held with local leadership and the Tribe to explore the option of renting a local house for residents during construction.
- No Change: Horizontal work complete. Man camp for Vertical Contractor is operational.
Plan Forward:
- Continue foundation work on the lifted house, which requires a significant amount of gravel and additional cleanup.
- Begin compiling a materials list for interior finishes such as flooring, doors, trims, and appliances.
- Continue work on foundation pads for another house.
- A shipping reminder was sent regarding a Toyo stove.
11/10/2025
- No Change: Horizontal work complete.
- HRC began building foundation pads out of treated lumber for house N-01.
- First 4' of surface material and insulation was removed from the interior walls in house N-02.
- House N-25 was lifted another foot and had debris removed from underneath the house so plywood and insulation could be removed.
- HRC issued a TWA to support DOT&PF with emergency clearing and restoration of the Nightmute runway, apron, and runway access road to re-establish safe aviation. operations and essential community connectivity.

- No Change: Horizontal work complete.
11/08/2025
- Emergency construction substantially complete.
- New pioneer access road built to replacement landfill site; debris disposal pit excavated.
- Limited haul trucks required some manual gravel transport; schedule met.
- Crew demobilizing; local leadership briefed on use/maintenance.
- Work on landfill and access road complete.
- Locals utilizing the landfill for storm debris.

- Hog River has crews continuing with repair efforts but are slowed due to lack of lumber.
- Crews are hauling buckets of gravel down the hill to place at “post & pad” locations.
- Lumber for house stabilization is expected out from Bethel today.
- Knik Construction pioneering access road to new landfill location.

- Knik Construction mobilizing equipment operators on Monday November 3rd to begin work on alternate landfill location.

- Assessments of mechanical, electrical, and structural work in progress.
- Hog River Construction is mobilizing to community for vertical construction work. Knik camp de-winterized and camp cook is traveling to location.
- Corresponded with DEC on possible need for new monofil location to deal with storm debris.
10/28/2025
- Assessments of mechanical, electrical, and structural work are in progress.
- A residential contractor is onsite to assist with assessments.
- LKSD Maintenance is completing minor repairs to the school sewage line.
- Hog River Construction is mobilizing to the community for vertical construction work.

- Knik Construction has completed the Airport Access Road and temporary boardwalk repairs.

- Materials arrive and roadway repairs begin.

- Arrival & Coordination
- Arrived onsite at 1620 hrs
- Met with Knik Superintendent
- Reviewed the full extent of boardwalk and roadway repairs initiated on October 19.
- Sewage Lagoon
- DEC representatives had departed prior to arrival.
- According to Knik Superintendent, initial DEC inspection found:
- Water has receded.
- Lagoon is functioning properly.
- DEC expected to return tomorrow; will confirm contact if not.
- Will also follow up on well water testing; Knik Superintendent reports it was deemed safe for consumption.
- DC Keith later confirmed: no additional work required on lagoon.
- According to Knik Superintendent, initial DEC inspection found:
- Airport Access Road
- Water has receded.
- Knik has topped and shouldered the full length with E-1 material.
- Both areas previously noted for slope erosion show no damage:
- First section retains all riprap armoring.
- Second section has vegetation intact, confirming slopes were not eroded.
- Boardwalk
- Repaired enough to restore full four-wheeler and foot access.
- Will conduct closer inspection of repairs tomorrow.
- Community Coordination
- Planning to meet with local leaders and utility representatives to discuss remaining design and scope concerns.
- Debris Issue:
- Extensive trash observed; requires guidance on whether debris removal falls under the current project scope.
