Lakeland Hills Pump Station Siting Survey
We want your input on siting a pump station in Auburn. Please take our questionnaire and share your thoughts.
Why does King County need to replace this pump station?
The Lakeland Hills Pump Station has reached the end of its useful life and King County plans to fully rebuild the pump station. Fun fact: this pump station was built in Roegner Park by the City of Auburn in 1981 and transferred to King County in 1997. It’s worked hard pumping wastewater for the Auburn community for over 40 years!
The new pump station will provide benefits including reliable wastewater services for decades into the future for the growing community in Auburn, reduced overflows into nearby water bodies, and safe access for work crews.
The Lakeland Hills Pump Station in Auburn moves sewage through pipes to a treatment plant to get cleaned before being released into water bodies like Puget Sound.
Why is King County considering different pump station locations?
Whenever King County rebuilds a pipe or pump station, we take a fresh look at the existing location. Why? A location that worked 40 years ago may or may not be the best place to rebuild today.
King County is considering many different factors when thinking about where to build the future pump station. Here are some key factors that will be part of deciding the location:
- How close the location is to local sewer pipes and the County-owned pipe that connects to the pump station
- Technical considerations
- Available nearby properties at a similar elevation
- Community input and equity and social justice opportunities
- Permitting and environmental considerations
- Cost
- Construction impacts
- Schedule
