Interative Project Study Area Map

Project Overview

The project proposes to repair approximately two miles of Middle Fork Road / Toms Falls Road from U.S. 74 to west of Mountain Cove Road in Henderson County. The purpose of the project is to repair damage from Hurricane Helene in September 2024 and restore the road to its previous condition as much as possible. Where feasible, the roadway will also be upgraded to meet current NCDOT design standards.

Project Highlights

  • Federal Funding: The project is supported by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) to repair storm-related damage.
  • Scope of Repairs: Work will address washed-out structures, damaged shoulders, and missing sections of the roadway.
  • Debris Removal: Crews will also clear extensive debris piles, including rocks and downed trees, throughout the corridor.
