Project Highlights
The N.C. Department of Transportation is proposing to improve N.C. 343, from east of U.S. 158, in Camden, to South Trotman Road (S.R. 1119), in the community of Shiloh, in Camden County.
The purpose of this project is to increase safety and improve mobility.
Improvments will Include:
- Resurfacing of the existing roadways.
- Providing consistent 11-foot wide travel lanes and 4-foot paved shoulders for the length of the project on N.C. 343.
- Adding a right-turn lane from U.S. 158 to Seymour Drive and realignment of Seymour Drive.
- Realignment of Ivy Neck Road and S. Mill Dam Road intersections with N.C. 343
The project will also remove the existing bridges over Mill Dam Creek and Areneuse Creek, but traffic will be maintained on the existing bridges during construction and detours will not be required.

RESOURCES FOR PROPERTY OWNERS
Although the N.C. Department of Transportation works to minimize the number of homes and businesses displaced by a road project, it is inevitable, in many cases, that a certain amount of private property is needed. The following information explains right of way acquisition and answers questions about the process.
