We are building momentum in Omaha.
Omaha’s streetcar project is underway.
When the streetcar begins operating in 2028, the initial route will connect neighborhoods, business districts, tourist attractions and community amenities between downtown Omaha and the Blackstone District.
The streetcar is more than just a transit solution — it’s a driving force for economic growth and has already spurred billions of dollars in new development in Omaha’s urban core to create new jobs, new housing and new opportunities.
Imagine an Omaha where people can park their car, then take the streetcar to shops, restaurants and entertainment venues without moving their vehicle more than once. Where people who live and work in midtown or downtown can get to and from work without using a vehicle at all. Imagine an Omaha where visitors can explore new areas of the city by taking a short, free ride on the streetcar. Imagine an Omaha that is more connected, more accessible and even more vibrant.
The streetcar is the key to unlocking this potential.

Where we're going.
According to the Urban Core Strategic Plan and the Urban Core Housing and Mobility Redevelopment Plan, the urban core has:
- 21 active, vibrant districts and neighborhoods
- 17 cultural, entertainment and sports venues
- 21 major companies and institutions
- 7 K-12 schools
And yet vacant properties and empty lots still exist. The urban core is the heart of our city, and by ensuring its growth and vibrancy, our entire city benefits.
