Project Highlights

The N.C.Department of Transportation Highway Division 2 proposes to replace the bridge on Oxford Road over Meeting House Branch in Pitt County. The bridge is owned and maintained by the City of Greenville. NCDOT is completing the design and managing construction of the bridge on behalf of the City of Greenville.

The existing two-lane bridge will be replaced in place with a two-lane structure with room for a future multi-use pathway on the western side. The typical section will include two undivided 11-foot lanes and curb and gutter on both sides.

An off-site detour will be required for the duration of the project. The detour route will use 10th StreetPortertown Road, King George Road, Windsor Road, and Oxford Road. The detour is approximately 4 miles.

RESOURCES FOR PROPERTY OWNERS

Although the N.C. Department of Transportation works to minimize the number of homes and businesses displaced by a road project, it is inevitable, in many cases, that a certain amount of private property is needed. The following information explains right of way acquisition and answers questions about the process.
