Background

This Project Pipeline study focuses on concepts targeting identified needs including congestion mitigation, safety improvement, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and transit access for approximately 4.2 miles of Patterson Avenue (Route 6) between Pump Road and Three Chopt Road in Henrico County. Patterson Avenue includes several segments identified with VTrans Priority 1 District Needs and two intersections identified as VTrans Safety Improvement Nodes. VTrans is Virginia's statewide transportation plan. VTrans identifies and prioritizes transportation needs. The identified transportation needs may be addressed by projects, policies, or programs.

This Phase 2 survey is intended to obtain public input on the alternatives under consideration to address the issues identified by the study team and through the Phase 1 survey conducted in August 2023. In general, most of the respondents to the Phase 1 survey identified the need for pedestrian safety and accessibility, corridor and intersection safety, and the need for reducing traffic congestion as their primary considerations for the study corridor.
