STARS Route 7 Study

State Route 7 (Leesburg Pike; Route 7) serves as a primary regional connection between Tysons Corner (Fairfax County) continuing east towards Alexandria, and the Town of Leesburg, areas in western Loudoun County and adjacent jurisdictions. The Route 7 study limits are identified from the Algonkian Parkway to the east and the U.S. Route 15 Bypass to the west. Several merge and weave areas with short lane change distances create challenging tasks for drivers along the corridor, contributing to recuring congestion and safety concerns. The Route 7 STARS study aims to evaluate these areas and develop medium- and long-term solutions to address safety concerns while accommodating future traffic demand.
