Background

The focus of this study is to assess key areas of the Route 277 (Fairfax Pike/Fairfax Street)/I-81 Interchange at Exit 307. The 0.36-mile-long study corridor along Route 277 (Fairfax Pike/Fairfax Street) between US Route 11 (Main Street) and Route 1085 (Stickley Drive) has locations in need of safety improvement, as well as identified operational issues during peak hour periods.

This Phase 2 survey is intended to obtain public input on the alternatives under consideration to address the issues identified by the study team and through the previous Phase 1 survey conducted in June and July 2023. Most of the Phase 1 survey respondents identified the need to reduce traffic congestion and improve corridor and pedestrian safety as their primary considerations for the study corridor.
