N. Frederick Pike (Route 522) Urban Area Transportation Survey
N. Frederick Pike (Route 522) Urban Area Transportation Survey
This study will focus on safety and multimodal access in the urbanized segment of U.S. Route 522 (N. Frederick Pike) from Echo Lane to the Winchester city limits. This corridor includes several crash hot spots as well as barriers to use for people walking to destinations such as nearby activity centers. The study is intended to assess mid-term to long-term challenges and opportunities and will identify project recommendations that can be advanced for federal, state, and local funding opportunities.
This brief survey will provide the study team with valuable context on existing transportation issues in the corridor so that they can be analyzed and addressed in the study.
Project Pipeline is a performance-based planning program to identify cost-effective solutions to multimodal transportation needs in Virginia. Through this planning process, projects and solutions may be considered for funding through programs, including SMART SCALE, revenue sharing, interstate funding and others.
