Route 23 proposed safety improvements in Weber City (Scott County)
Route 23 proposed safety improvements in Weber City (Scott County)
Benefits
The primary purpose of this project is to improve safety on Route 23 near the Route 224 (Wadlow Gap Highway) intersection in Weber City. The project includes the extension of the southbound left-turn lanes on Route 23 at the intersection approximately 100 feet and modifying the median, affecting access to and from the adjacent convenience store. The left-turn lane providing access to the convenience store from Route 23 southbound will be shifted to better accommodate U-turns, allowing vehicles more space to turn. Left turns exiting the convenience store would no longer be permitted.
During construction, motorists should be alert to periodic delays and the possibility of temporary detours. This section of Route 23 carries approximately 27,000 vehicles per day.
Following the public meeting, the project design will be finalized. The project is anticipated to move to the right of way phase for any needed easements and/or utility relocations in April 2025. Construction is anticipated to begin September 2026.
