DCPS Strategic Plan Community Update
DCPS Strategic Plan Community Update
Since 2012, DC Public Schools has developed a strategic plan every five years, and the district’s last two Capital Commitments have improved the educational experience of our more than 50,000 students. As we head into the final stages of developing our next strategic plan to lead our work for the next five years, we’re excited to execute a plan that will transform our district as it guides our goals, priorities, and resources.
This fall, we heard from thousands of stakeholders through a series of internal and external listening sessions and engagements. DCPS published the “What We Heard” report summarizing all the feedback received, and it has helped us shape the development of our strategic plan. We committed to sharing draft content of the plan this spring so we could receive additional input as we turn to implementation planning.
To that end, this strategic plan framework aims to ensure students succeed academically, connect to their schools, and are prepared for what is next at each transition from elementary, middle, and high school. A solid K-12 foundation will ensure that our scholars are set up to thrive in college, career, and life. As we move to refine specific aspects of the framework, we are seeking input around how DCPS can partner with families, staff, students, and school communities to implement its strategic plan.
We look forward to sharing the strategic plan for 2023-2028 later this summer with the entire DCPS community. Thank you for your continued feedback and involvement along the way.
