4th Street and Holston Road Proposed Intersection Improvements (Wytheville)
4th Street and Holston Road Proposed Intersection Improvements (Wytheville)
Benefits
The primary purpose of this project is to improve safety at the intersection of 4th Street and Holston Road in Wytheville. The project includes modifying the current turn lanes at the Holston Road and 4th Street intersection in the Town of Wytheville. The proposed plan will add a left turn lane from 4th Street eastbound to Holston Road and add a u-turn on 4th Street westbound to the west of Holston Road, providing Holston Road traffic a safer method for accessing 4th Street toward Wytheville and I-81 southbound.
During construction, motorists should be alert to periodic delays. This section of 4th Street carries approximately 2,700 vehicles per day.
Following the public meeting, the project design will be finalized. The project is anticipated to move to the right-of-way phase for any needed easements and/or utility relocations in May 2025. Construction is anticipated to begin September 2026.
