Participants should identify areas of the city where they think the consultant team should be aware of — the great, the not-so-great, and everything in between.  Sticker dots of different colors (green, blue, red) were used at the in-person event to identify these areas, and they were asked to explain why the dots were placed in certain locations.  Each color was assigned a category: green dots were places they love, blue dots were places of opportunity, and red dots were places that need improvement. Markers were used to explain why places were categorized as one of these.

The virtual mapping workshop begins after the photo from the live event. Rather than using sticker dots, color-coded pins are offered to identify specific areas of the city. This way, we are able to combine the input received from this virtual workshop with the input collected from the in-person event.

Question title

Tell us more about the community: places you love, places of opportunity, and places that need improvement.

Participants should place pins on the map to make the consultant team aware of specific conditions in specific locations of the city. A GREEN PIN should be placed in an area that you love in the city. A BLUE PIN should be placed in an area that provides an opportunity for the city (i.e., a place for change or a place to protect). A RED PIN should be placed in an area that needs improvement (i.e., a place in decline or a place for reinvestment).

Select a pin type from the banner at the top of the map (green, blue, or red) and drag it to a location of interest for you. Once you release the mouse button a comment box will pop up. Tell us why you placed the pin in this location and what we need to know about it. Click on the orange button in the comment box to post the comment. You can place as many pins as you want on the map.

TIPS FOR NAVIGATING IN THE MAP

(1) Pins can be dropped anywhere inside city limits. Use the + or - buttons on the map located in the bottom right corner of the map window to zoom in or out of the planning area.

(2) The view can be switched to full screen using the box icon located on the right side of the map window (top button in the stack). Hit the escape key on your keyboard to return to the original view.

(3) The base map for the exercise can be changed using the "hybrid" button in the right corner of the map window. The "hybrid" mode will turn on street names and points of interest over the aerial image. The "map" button will remove the aerial image and display streets, street names, and points of interest.
