Study Overview

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is proposing a project to construct a section of raised concrete curb in the median along US-40 in Vernal, at the intersection of 1500 West. If constructed, the raised curb would restrict left turns from 1500 West onto north or southbound US-40.

UDOT's goal is to reduce traffic conflict points, promote driver awareness, and improve safety at this intersection. The proposed project may also include the replacement of pedestrian ramps and addition of crosswalks on the north and south legs of the intersection to improve pedestrian access and safety.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by UDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated June 12, 2023, and executed by FHWA and UDOT.
