Bristol Roundabouts: Route 11/Euclid Ave. and MLK, Jr., Blvd./Moore St.
Bristol Roundabouts: Route 11/Euclid Ave. and MLK, Jr., Blvd./Moore St.
The primary purpose of this project is to construct two roundabouts in Bristol: at the intersection of Route 11 and Euclid Avenue, and at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard, Moore Street, Birch Street and Oakview Avenue. Both are single-lane roundabouts.
The plans also include new sidewalks and crosswalks at both roundabouts.
During construction, to safely build portions of each roundabout there will be temporary detours in place. There are links below to display boards for each detour route.
This area sees approximately 11,500 vehicles per day.
Roundabouts allow traffic to move around a center island in a counterclockwise direction (right turns only) to access each point, or leg, of the roundabout.
Roundabouts are shown to improve safety by reducing the number of points where vehicles can cross paths and eliminating the potential for right-angle and head-on crashes.
Roundabouts also increase efficiency and are cost-effective in the long term versus a traffic signal.
Benefits
Roundabout are shown to improve safety, increase efficiency and are cost-effective in the long term versus a traffic signal.
