Greetings!

Since launching the Reimagining AMHS Program, DOT&PF is charting the course ahead toward a thriving transportation system. This is a phased effort to improve ferry service over time, focusing first on increasing the reliability of existing services, and then moving to add additional services as resources and reliability increase. The health and availability of our crew, fleet, and budget are being monitored and reported weekly - all of which can be viewed on our Reimagining AMHS mainpage! Metrics were updated Monday, November 14, 2022 and can be viewed under the "Fleet," "Crew," and "Budget" tabs at the bottom of the main page.

Community Engagement Updates

DOT&PF is engaging the public to gather input in order to inform future service schedules and limit service gaps. We are working with stakeholders to ensure that we are listening to community needs and responding to the best of our ability.

Hoonah Regional Volleyball Tournament

Recent community stakeholder engagement resulted in adjustments to LeConte's schedule to accommodate travel to and from the Regional Volleyball Tournament in Hoonah (November 17 and 19). Please refer to your service area playbook to view other events being requested in your community.

Prince William Sound Supplemental Service

To better accommodate the residents of Prince William Sound during reduced service this November and December, we have contracted supplemental service between Cordova, Whittier, and Valdez. Please refer to the Prince William Sound playbook and Phillips Cruises and Tours website for more information. Supplemental sailings for Prince William Sound are listed under the vessel name Bravest BRV on the OARS calendar. Reservations may be booked at https://dot.alaska.gov/amhs/ or by calling 800-642-0066.

Service Area Playbooks

Service Area Playbooks are a tool for DOT&PF to plan with communities and make decisions about how best to deploy additional resources (crew and vessels) to improve the overall health of the system. Playbooks are updated regularly as DOT&PF evaluates resources and system metrics to determine if service levels need to be altered given available resources.

Please note that ports such as Juneau and Ketchikan service multiple areas and are therefore present in multiple playbooks - if you have any trouble finding your community's playbook, feel free to reach out to us for assistance!
