In spring 2020, Metro suspended a significant amount of transit service due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the face of declining revenue and ridership demand. Despite challenges, Metro has maintained a regional transit network to serve the more than one in four of our customers who never stopped counting on us to access work and critical needs.

Still, current ridership remains lower than before the pandemic. Metro is operating at 85% of the service we provided prior to COVID, and service suspensions remain in place on routes across our system. Looking forward, public transit is at the heart of a successful recovery from the health and economic crises caused by COVID-19. As our region recovers and daily, local travel increases, Metro plans to gradually restore transit service across the county.
