I like going to East/West studio tours, visiting museums, and following artists on social media! I also have attended the DACs adult nights, which are fun ways to engage creatively in a low-stakes environment.

More publicity for the exhibitions, performances, and classes there, and a stronger sense of connection to and even partnership with other arts institutions in the city, particularly those nearby (such as Zach Theatre and the Long Center).

I love the current offerings. But would love to see more events that can bring in non-artists but artistically curious. Through fun activities or 1 day stand alone class. I would also enjoy fun events to encourage collaborate visual art making. Pairing a photographer and a painter to create something.
Theatre performances, dance performances, classical concerts, visual arts exhibitions, and educational events such as interviews and round table discussions with artists.
I love the ideas that others have mentioned here: arts classes (photography, painting, writing, and pottery all sound intriguing), visual arts exhibitions, and panels or discussions with local artists, musicians, and authors.
A space that feels comfortable to be in. Perhaps a cafe that offers refreshments. Plenty of room. An open feeling. Immediate engagement with all of the things that the DAC offers - art on view, information about classes, etc.
As a former PARD employee who worked at the DAC, I find this is very exciting! Since the new space will be so close to the trails and water, it would be great to include an outdoor stage of some sort that could be used for performances, yoga classes, etc., as well as some public art along the trail to interest those who pass in visiting the DAC. I also agree that collaboration with the nearby ZACH and Long Center is a great idea for some programming/events. Love the idea of a cafe/bar that could bring in income during shows, performances and openings! Plenty of parking will be essential! And yes, more publicity and community outreach about new programming once it is in place! So excited for this much-needed new chapter in Austin’s arts community!

Creating space and infrastructure that are suited specifically for the artists who will use the spaces and the audiences who will visit them, e.g., light grids, soundproofing, light and sound systems, loading and storage areas for performing artists, comfortable seating and sight lines for audience members; loading areas and movable walls and lights for visual artists.
What Patrick Wong said, but also to invite the community in. Artists shouldn't be performing alone or for themselves. A pedestrian (should be oriented towards pedestrian use) walking by should feel invited, welcome, curious.
