The master plan completed aimed to identify community needs, wants, desires for the park; identify users interested in enjoying the park, develop a plan for implementation in phases, and improve perception, safety, access, visibility and usability of the park. On Saturday, November 14, 2020, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation conducted a virtual public meeting to seek community input to help define the master plan.
The Mecklenburg County Board of County Commissioners allocated $7 million to the improvement of existing local parks. Albemarle Road Park is one of the ten parks selected to receive this funding. Over the coming months, we will be working on the design process.
